A special Veterans’ Sofa Session!

Filling Station Lofts

Join us for a home concert built around community, connection, and supporting local artists!

Our MPU team is partnering with Natalia, an immigrant by life, organizational psychologist by training, founder by choice, connector and community builder by passion, few things make her happier than hosting inside of her own home and listening to live music. You can expect hugs + high-fives + maracas.

Natalia has been hosting concerts in her home for seven years, in different shapes and formats. Each month, a different local (sometimes traveling!) artist will join to share their story and their talent in the intimate.

This month, we have a very special collaboration between Sofa Sessions, More Perfect Union Miami Brickyard, and our local VFW. More Perfect Union is a national civic organization focused on strengthening democracy and economic dignity through storytelling and organizing, and has an active Miami chapter spearheading that work locally. The VFW is one of the country’s longest-standing veteran service organizations, dedicated to supporting veterans and their families in cities across the country. This gathering is centered entirely on the veteran community, using music as a way to create community, honor lived experience, and give back in a tangible way. The evening is designed to be intimate, sincere, and rooted in connection.

As our musical accompaniment this month, we are very excited to be welcoming back Tony & the Kings playing the Latin styles of music they grew up hearing and have come to love. Miami Latin Soul at its finest, reminiscent of the classic Latin Caribbean sounds of Fania Records. Tony leads the band with his high-energy Spanglish soul in true Miami fashion. The bass, congas, and drums blend perfectly, driving a Latin rhythm all while the keyboards and horn lines rip synchronized syncopated melodies.

About the Miami Chapter

Across cities and towns just like yours nationwide, we serve our communities by starting with bringing different neighbors together for events centered around Service, Social Gatherings, and Civics.

By rolling up our sleeves side-by-side, we can begin to see that we have more in common than what divides us; that first and foremost we are fellow Americans with a common love for our families and communities.

These Chapters – also known as our Brickyards – are mobile places for neighbors to connect and solve local problems. We do this through respectful and open conversations, and to find higher ground as we work together brick-by-brick.

The Miami Brickyard is led by Janett Cordovés.
