+MPU D.C. Brickyard: Afghan Art Exhibit

Tyson’s Corner Center Mall – Second Floor, by Macy's

+ MPU Washington, D.C. Brickyard will be gathering at the Tysons Corner Center Mall to view the brand-new Afghan Art Exhibit.

This new exhibit displays art rescued from Afghanistan when the Taliban took over in August 2021. The Afghan Art Exhibit at the Mall is a collection of art from a group called ArtLords. ArtLords is a global collective of artists promoting artworks the group believes exemplify culture, social and political issues through street art.

+MPU is attending the exhibit to gain a new lens from which to better understand the experience of Afghans and Afghan Americans. After viewing the art, +MPU Washington D.C. Brickyard Co-Founder Ben Bain will guide members through a conversation about Courage over food and beverages at the Mall’s food court. The event will start at 3pm and end at 5pm.

We form local chapters called Brickyards, where Americans of all backgrounds come together connecting through events like potlucks, service opportunities, and more. Through these +MPU experiences, we discover we aren’t so different from each other through our intentional conversations.

+ More Perfect Union is a nationwide movement to strengthen our communities and heal our country by creating meaningful connections through service and leadership.

About the Washington Chapter

Washington, D.C. has always been a place of compromise. Born as the beating heart of American democracy, D.C. has long been a symbol of what we can achieve when we come together, and what can go wrong when division takes the place of connectedness in our communities.

The D.C. Brickyard is led by Ben Bain, Jaelin Lespier, and Ryan Smither.
