Sara Hunold is a 2023 MPU Fellow and Brickyard Leader for South Bend, Indiana’s Chapter.

A civics teacher at heart, Sara Hunold is a service minded idealist, believing that volunteering and community engagement is a cornerstone of good citizenship. Her volunteer work includes post-Katrina relief with the Red Cross, building a school playground in Tanzania with Young Life, teaching English at an immigration and refugee center, multiple service projects with Team RWB & Team Rubicon in Columbus Ohio, and volunteering while living overseas with the USO & Freedom’s Ring in Okinawa Japan while working as a Deployment Readiness Coordinator for 4th Marine Regiment on Camp Schwab.

Today, Sara lives in South Bend, Indiana and is a mother, raising three go-givers, a wife of a Marine who he himself has earned two military outstanding volunteer service medals, and is the Founder and Executive Director of Freedom’s Ring, a nonprofit with the mission to spread a spirit of remarkable patriotism by challenging Americans and creating opportunities for them to use their freedom to serve one another and leave a positive mark.
