Matthew Dembowski is a 2023 MPU Fellow from New Orleans, Louisiana and the Captain of the Crescent City Brickyard chapter.

Matt graduated from West Point in 2007, where he majored in US History and Environmental Engineering. Following graduation, he served for 8 years as a Cavalry officer in the US Army, where he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He served as a Scout Platoon Leader in Baghdad in 2008, a Troop Executive Officer and Squadron Operations Officer in Afghanistan in 2010, and a Troop Commander in Kuwait in 2014.

After the Army, Matt moved to south Louisiana to work in healthcare technology. He enjoys kayaking, backpacking, running, and volunteering with nonprofits focused on climate change and its impacts in the Gulf South. Typically, he can be found enjoying live music or perusing a local record shop. He currently lives in New Orleans.
